A temporary loan can cover a deposit before a reimbursement arrives, but its cost depends on the gap between the two dates.

How to approach the decision

Use the payment deadline and a conservative reimbursement date to estimate the borrowing period. Add the fee even if you expect to repay early when the fee is charged upfront.

Worked example

InputExample
Deposit amount financed ($)$2,600.00
Annual simple rate (%)14
Days until modeled payoff45
One-time borrowing fee ($)$55.00
ResultEstimate
Estimated cost of bridging the deposit$99.88
Simple interest component$44.88
Estimated repayment with fee$2,699.88

Uses constant principal, simple daily interest on a 365-day basis and one fixed fee. Confirm any minimum charges and the payoff amount with the lender.

What to verify

Verify that the reimbursement covers the same expense and can be used immediately. Keep a second scenario in case approval or payment takes longer.

Run your numbers with the Deposit Bridge Loan Timing Cost Calculator. For a second scenario, see Why Fixed Fees Matter on a Small Deposit Bridge Loan.
